Concentrating on the domestic scene, it was not difficult to decide our chosen charity should be “Hospitality Action” – the industry’s benevolent fund – celebrating 170 years in 2007.
Hospitality Action looks after workers of the hospitality industry who have fallen on hard times or who have suffered from drug or alcohol issues. When you look at the Hospitality Action website, you will see the names of the “great and the good”. AICR UK became a corporate member of the charity from June 2007.
Since June, the AICR UK made a corporate donation and at the cocktail party at the Jumeriah Lowndes Hotel in July 2007, hosted by the general manager Jane Renton MI, we managed to contribute a further £180. As a result, the committee decided to continue in placing a bowl at each event where members will be asked to contribute a minimum of £2 or as much as you can to gain entry to the event. This will be totalled up as an annual donation from the Treasurer.
